Randahl Construction completed a comprehensive industrial flooring upgrade at Activar’s production facility, managing both the removal and reconstruction of the concrete bases that support essential manufacturing equipment. Our team demolished and hauled away over 2,000 square feet of failing 6-inch concrete before installing three newly engineered foundation pads: a 1,260-square-foot slab poured to a 10-inch depth, a heavily reinforced 504-square-foot pad constructed at 24 inches for heavy-duty machinery, and a 280-square-foot slab also formed at 10 inches. Each pad was built with 2-inch recessed edge channels for integration with the rail system, supported by high-density foam isolation joints designed to prevent stress transfer between separate concrete sections. To ensure uninterrupted production throughout the project, we also installed a 7,200-square-foot containment enclosure that fully separated the construction zone from active manufacturing areas, reducing dust and operational disruption.

Engineering requirements called for 5,000 PSI rapid-set concrete strengthened with a dual-layer rebar grid (½”–⅝” bars spaced at 12 inches), providing significantly higher structural capacity than standard wire mesh and delivering the durability needed for heavy industrial equipment. Randahl Construction’s self-performing team executed the entire process, including demolition of the existing slab, subgrade excavation, and installation of a 12-inch Class 5 aggregate base compacted to specification. The newly placed concrete received a power-troweled finish and was sealed with high-performance curing compounds for maximum longevity. Our crew also completed post-pour tasks such as grouting the track anchor systems after the designated three-week curing period, handling full debris and soil removal, and coordinating third-party engineering tests with verified compliance reporting. This project highlights Randahl Construction’s ability to deliver precise, high-strength industrial concrete installations that meet strict engineering standards while keeping facility operations uninterrupted.
