We value hard work at Randahl, but don’t let that fool you into thinking that we don’t have a lot of fun along the way. That being said, one of our favorite events in particular is the Hamel Rodeo. If you’re a resident of the Twin Cities metro area, or even of greater Minnesota, there’s a good chance you’ve heard of the Hamel Rodeo and know at least a little bit about it. But, in case you’re new to the area or haven’t yet heard about the state’s largest rodeo, we’re going to talk a bit about the event and why Randahl Construction enjoys being one of its major sponsors.
The Hamel Rodeo, which is Minnesota’s biggest rodeo both in terms of money added and payout, has taken place annually for the past 35 years. The event takes place off County Road 10 in Corcoran, Minnesota, and will be held from July 9th through the 12th. Each night has multiple events for attendees of all ages, including barrel races, bull riding, dancing under the stars and even the Sweat Your Buns Run on Sunday the 12th. With a total payout of around $120,000, the Hamel Rodeo attracts some of the nation’s top talent in Rodeo. The best part of all? It’s all for a good cause.
According to the Hamel Rodeo’s website, the event will cost around $300,000 to put on this year, and almost all of that money will be spent in the local community. Four organizations – The Hamel Volunteer Fire Department, Heinzen-Ditter VFW Post, John Pohlker American Legion Post 394 and the Hamel Lions Club -- receive 100% of the proceeds generated by the rodeo. Yes, you read that right, and it’s a statistic that few charitable events can claim. It’s always an honor to be part of an event that contributes directly to doing good in the state of Minnesota.
