Activar

Randahl Construction executed a full-scale industrial concrete renovation for Activar, managing both demolition and precision installation of heavy-duty concrete pads engineered for equipment mounting. Our team removed over 2,000 square feet of deteriorated 6-inch concrete flooring before constructing three custom-specified pads: a primary 1,260-square-foot pad poured at 10 inches deep, a reinforced structural pad measuring 504 square feet at 24 inches thick, and a secondary 280-square-foot pad at 10 inches deep. Each pad featured specialized 2-inch recessed edges designed to accommodate track system integration, with foam isolation joints installed along all perimeters to prevent stress transfer. To maintain uninterrupted business operations throughout construction, we erected a temporary dust containment system spanning 7,200 square feet around the active work zone.

We specified premium 5,000 PSI high-early strength concrete reinforced with a dual-layer rebar grid (½” to ⅝” diameter bars spaced at 12-inch intervals) rather than conventional welded wire fabric, delivering enhanced load-bearing capacity critical for industrial equipment installations. Our crews handled every phase in-house—from demolition and site excavation to installing 12 inches of thoroughly compacted Class 5 aggregate base, finishing with hand-troweled surfaces and protective curing compounds. Additional scope encompassed track system grouting performed three weeks post-pour to ensure proper concrete curing, complete removal and disposal of all excavated soil and debris, plus coordination of third-party testing and inspection documentation. This Activar project exemplifies our expertise in executing technically demanding industrial concrete installations while maintaining strict tolerances and keeping client operations running smoothly throughout construction.
