Randahl Construction delivered a complete industrial floor replacement for Activar, coordinating demolition and expert installation of specialized concrete pads built to support heavy machinery. We stripped away more than 2,000 square feet of failing 6-inch slab before pouring three engineered pads to exact specifications: a main pad covering 1,260 square feet at 10-inch depth, a high-strength structural base spanning 504 square feet poured 24 inches thick, and an auxiliary 280-square-foot pad at 10-inch thickness. All pads incorporated precise 2-inch depth reductions around perimeters for track mounting hardware, while expanded foam isolation material was placed at every edge to eliminate load transfer between sections. Recognizing the need to preserve ongoing facility operations during construction, our crew installed an extensive temporary barrier system covering 7,200 square feet to contain concrete dust and debris within the work area.

Our specifications called for high-performance 5,000 PSI rapid-strength concrete with a double-mat steel reinforcement system (½” to ⅝” rebar on 12-inch centers) instead of standard wire mesh, providing the exceptional structural capacity required for heavy industrial machinery loads. Randahl’s self-performing crews managed all construction phases internally—from initial demolition and excavation through placement of 12 inches of densely compacted Class 5 aggregate, culminating in power-troweled finishes sealed with commercial-grade curing agents. Our work scope extended beyond the concrete pours to include precision grouting of the track mounting systems three weeks after installation to allow adequate cure time, full offsite hauling of excavation materials and demolished concrete, and facilitation of independent structural testing with certified inspection reports. The Activar installation showcases our proficiency in delivering precision-engineered industrial concrete projects that meet exacting technical requirements while minimizing disruption to active manufacturing environments.
