Randahl Construction carried out a comprehensive industrial flooring replacement at Activar’s manufacturing plant, overseeing the complete teardown and reconstruction of the concrete bases that support key machinery. Our team removed and hauled away over 2,000 square feet of failing 6-inch concrete before building three newly engineered slab foundations: a 1,260-square-foot pad poured to a 10-inch depth, a 504-square-foot section reinforced and formed at 24 inches for heavy-load equipment, and an additional 280-square-foot pad also installed at 10 inches. Each slab featured 2-inch recessed edge channels designed for rail system integration, along with high-density foam isolation joints to prevent stress transfer between the separate concrete pours. To maintain safe and uninterrupted production during construction, we also constructed a 7,200-square-foot dust-control enclosure that fully separated the work zone from active manufacturing areas.

Engineering plans called for 5,000 PSI rapid-set concrete strengthened with a dual-layer rebar reinforcement system (½”–⅝” bar spaced at 12 inches), a configuration far more robust than traditional wire mesh and essential for supporting heavy industrial machinery. Randahl Construction’s self-performing team oversaw every stage of the process—from demolishing the existing slab and excavating the subgrade to installing and compacting a 12-inch Class 5 aggregate base. The new slab received a power-troweled finish and was sealed using high-grade curing products to ensure long-term performance. Our work also included post-installation tasks such as grouting track anchor components after a three-week curing window, handling all debris and soil haul-off, and coordinating third-party engineering tests with documented compliance reports. This Activar project demonstrates Randahl Construction’s ability to deliver high-precision industrial concrete systems that satisfy strict engineering requirements while keeping plant operations running without disruption.
