Randahl Construction completed a full industrial floor replacement at Activar’s production facility, overseeing the demolition and reconstruction of the concrete foundations that support critical manufacturing equipment. Our crew removed and transported more than 2,000 square feet of deteriorated 6-inch concrete before installing three newly designed structural pads: a 1,260-square-foot slab poured at 10 inches, a heavily fortified 504-square-foot pad built to a 24-inch thickness for high-capacity machinery, and a 280-square-foot slab also placed at 10 inches. Each foundation included 2-inch recessed perimeter channels engineered to accommodate the rail system, along with high-compression foam isolation joints to prevent movement or stress transfer between individual slab sections. To keep production running safely throughout the project, we erected a 7,200-square-foot containment system that isolated the work zone and minimized dust and disruption within the active manufacturing environment.
The project specifications required 5,000 PSI rapid-set concrete reinforced with a two-layer rebar system (½”–⅝” bars set at 12-inch spacing), delivering far greater strength than standard wire mesh and ensuring the load-bearing stability needed for heavy industrial equipment. Randahl Construction’s self-performing crew managed every step—from removing the existing slab and excavating the subgrade to placing and compacting a 12-inch Class 5 aggregate foundation. The new concrete was finished with a power-troweled surface and protected with premium curing compounds for long-term durability. Additional responsibilities included grouting the track anchor assemblies after a three-week cure period, coordinating the full haul-off of excavated material and debris, and managing third-party engineering tests with certified compliance documentation. This installation underscores Randahl Construction’s expertise in executing precision industrial concrete work that meets demanding engineering standards while keeping facility operations running smoothly.
