Randahl Construction recently completed a full industrial concrete flooring upgrade for Activar’s manufacturing facility, overseeing both the demolition of the existing slabs and the installation of new foundation systems for critical production equipment. Our crews removed more than 2,000 square feet of deteriorating 6-inch concrete and replaced it with three precision-engineered equipment pads: a 1,260-square-foot slab poured to 10 inches, a heavily reinforced 504-square-foot pad constructed at 24 inches to support heavy machinery, and a 280-square-foot slab also installed at a 10-inch depth. Each pad was designed with 2-inch recessed edge channels to interface with the facility’s rail system and built with high-density foam isolation joints to prevent vibration and stress transfer between concrete zones. To keep production running safely during construction, we erected a 7,200-square-foot containment system that fully isolated the work area, minimizing dust, noise, and disruption to Active operations.

The project required a 5,000 PSI rapid-set concrete mix reinforced with a two-layer rebar system (½”–⅝” steel spaced 12 inches on center), offering far greater load-carrying performance than traditional wire mesh and ensuring the strength needed for heavy industrial machinery. Randahl Construction’s self-performing crew managed the entire scope—from breaking out the existing slab and excavating the subgrade to placing and compacting a 12-inch Class 5 aggregate base built to engineered standards. The new concrete was finished with a power-trowel and treated with premium curing compounds to maximize surface hardness and long-term durability. After the pour, our team completed all follow-up work, including grouting the track anchor assemblies after the required three-week cure, overseeing complete debris haul-off, and coordinating certified third-party engineering tests and documentation. This installation demonstrates Randahl Construction’s expertise in delivering high-precision, high-strength industrial concrete solutions that meet strict engineering requirements while allowing facility operations to continue without disruption.
