Randahl Construction successfully completed a full industrial flooring replacement at Activar’s manufacturing plant, managing the demolition of existing slabs and installation of new foundation systems for essential production equipment. The team removed over 2,000 square feet of failing 6-inch concrete and installed three newly engineered structural pads: a 1,260-square-foot slab poured to 10 inches, a heavily reinforced 504-square-foot pad built to 24 inches to handle high-capacity machinery, and a 280-square-foot slab also placed at a 10-inch depth. Each foundation was crafted with 2-inch recessed perimeter channels for rail system integration and fitted with high-density foam isolation joints to prevent stress transfer and vibration between slabs. To maintain safe, uninterrupted operations, we also erected a 7,200-square-foot containment enclosure that separated the construction zone, reducing dust, noise, and disruption across the active manufacturing floor.

The project called for 5,000 PSI rapid-set concrete reinforced with a dual-layer rebar grid (½”–⅝” bars spaced 12 inches apart), providing superior load-bearing capacity compared to standard wire mesh and ensuring the durability required for heavy industrial equipment. Randahl Construction’s self-performing team oversaw the full scope of work, including demolition of the existing slab, subgrade excavation, and installation and compaction of a 12-inch Class 5 aggregate base to precise engineering specifications. The new concrete received a power-troweled finish and was sealed with premium curing compounds for long-term strength and performance. Post-installation tasks included grouting the track anchor assemblies after a three-week curing period, managing full debris and soil removal, and coordinating third-party engineering tests with verified compliance reports. This project highlights Randahl Construction’s ability to deliver precise, high-strength industrial concrete solutions that meet rigorous engineering standards while keeping facility operations running smoothly.
