Randahl Construction recently completed a full industrial concrete floor replacement at Activar’s manufacturing facility, overseeing both the demolition of the existing slabs and the installation of new foundation systems for critical production equipment. The crew removed more than 2,000 square feet of deteriorated 6-inch concrete and installed three precision-engineered structural pads: a 1,260-square-foot slab poured to 10 inches, a heavily reinforced 504-square-foot pad built to 24 inches for high-capacity machinery, and a 280-square-foot slab also formed at 10 inches. Each foundation included 2-inch recessed perimeter channels to integrate with the rail system and high-density foam isolation joints to prevent vibration and stress transfer between sections. To ensure uninterrupted, safe production throughout construction, a 7,200-square-foot containment enclosure was erected to separate the work zone, minimizing dust, noise, and operational disruption within the active facility.

Engineering specifications required a 5,000 PSI rapid-set concrete mix strengthened with a dual-layer rebar grid (½”–⅝” bars set at 12-inch spacing), offering significantly greater load-bearing capability than traditional wire mesh and ensuring the durability needed for heavy industrial equipment. Randahl Construction’s self-performing crew handled the entire build—from breaking out the existing slab and excavating the subgrade to installing and compacting a 12-inch Class 5 aggregate base constructed to precise engineering standards. The newly poured concrete received a power-troweled finish and was sealed with high-performance curing compounds to maximize long-term strength. After the pour, our team completed all follow-up tasks, including grouting the track anchor systems after a three-week curing period, managing full debris and soil haul-off, and coordinating certified third-party engineering testing. This work showcases Randahl Construction’s expertise in delivering high-strength, precision industrial concrete installations that meet strict engineering requirements while keeping facility operations running smoothly.
