Randahl Construction recently carried out a full industrial flooring replacement at Activar’s manufacturing plant, managing both the demolition of existing concrete slabs and the installation of new foundation systems for essential production equipment. Our team removed over 2,000 square feet of failing 6-inch concrete and replaced it with three custom-engineered structural pads: a 1,260-square-foot slab poured to 10 inches, a heavily reinforced 504-square-foot pad built at 24 inches to support heavy-duty machinery, and a 280-square-foot slab also installed at a 10-inch depth. Each pad was constructed with 2-inch recessed edge channels for seamless rail system integration and equipped with high-density foam isolation joints to prevent vibration and stress transfer between individual sections. To maintain safe and uninterrupted operations during construction, we installed a 7,200-square-foot containment enclosure that separated the work zone and minimized dust, noise, and operational disruption throughout the active facility.

The project called for 5,000 PSI rapid-set concrete reinforced with a dual-layer rebar grid (½”–⅝” bars spaced 12 inches apart), delivering superior load-bearing performance compared to standard wire mesh and ensuring the strength necessary for heavy industrial machinery. Randahl Construction’s self-performing team managed the entire project, including demolition of the existing slab, excavation of the subgrade, and installation and compaction of a 12-inch Class 5 aggregate base to exact engineering specifications. The new concrete was finished with a power-trowel and treated with premium curing compounds to provide long-term durability. Post-pour tasks included grouting the track anchor assemblies following the designated three-week curing period, overseeing complete debris and soil removal, and coordinating certified third-party engineering tests. This project highlights Randahl Construction’s ability to deliver precise, high-strength industrial concrete installations that meet rigorous engineering standards while allowing facility operations to continue without disruption.
