At Activar’s manufacturing plant, Randahl Construction executed a complete industrial concrete floor renovation, demolishing more than 2,000 square feet of failing 6-inch slabs and constructing three custom-engineered machinery foundations: a 1,260-square-foot base poured to 10-inch specification, a reinforced 504-square-foot pad built at 24-inch depth for heavy industrial equipment, and a 280-square-foot slab formed to 10-inch thickness. All foundations featured 2-inch recessed edge channels to accommodate rail systems and high-density foam expansion joints that eliminate vibration transfer and prevent structural stress between adjacent sections. Throughout the project, a 7,200-square-foot protective barrier system isolated the construction area from ongoing operations, controlling airborne debris, sound levels, and minimizing workflow interruptions.

Engineering requirements specified 5,000 PSI rapid-set concrete with dual-layer rebar reinforcement (½”–⅝” bars spaced at 12-inch centers), offering exceptional load-bearing strength versus traditional wire mesh and ensuring the durability needed for heavy production machinery. Our in-house crew controlled all construction stages—breaking out existing concrete, excavating and conditioning the subgrade, then placing and compacting a 12-inch Class 5 aggregate foundation layer constructed to precise engineering specifications. The newly placed concrete was finished with power troweling and treated with high-performance curing agents to maximize strength development over time. After the concrete set, our team handled all post-pour activities, including anchor grouting for track systems following a three-week curing period, managing full debris haul-off and site cleanup, and coordinating third-party engineering inspections and certifications. This installation showcases Randahl Construction’s expertise in delivering robust, precision-engineered industrial concrete solutions that meet demanding structural requirements while keeping manufacturing operations fully functional.
