At Activar’s manufacturing facility, Randahl Construction completed a full industrial concrete flooring overhaul, removing over 2,000 square feet of deteriorating 6-inch slab and installing three precisely engineered equipment bases. The project included a 1,260-square-foot foundation poured at a 10-inch depth, a heavily reinforced 504-square-foot pad constructed to 24 inches to support high-capacity machinery, and a 280-square-foot slab also formed at 10 inches. Each new foundation incorporated 2-inch recessed edge channels for integrated rail systems along with high-density foam expansion joints to reduce vibration transfer and protect the surrounding structure. To maintain a safe and uninterrupted work environment, the team erected a 7,200-square-foot containment barrier that controlled dust, noise, and workflow disruption throughout the renovation.

Project specifications called for 5,000 PSI rapid-set concrete supported by a dual-layer rebar system using ½”–⅝” bars spaced every 12 inches, providing far greater load capacity than standard wire mesh and delivering the long-term durability required for heavy production equipment. Randahl Construction’s self-performing team managed the entire process—from breaking out the existing slab and preparing the subgrade to installing and compacting a 12-inch Class 5 aggregate base built to exact engineering requirements. The new concrete was power-trowel finished and treated with advanced curing compounds to enhance strength gain and resistance over time. Once the slab reached proper cure, our crew completed all follow-up tasks, including precision anchor grouting for rail and track systems, full debris removal, site restoration, and coordination with third-party engineers for final inspections and certifications. The result is a high-performance, precisely engineered industrial concrete installation that supports demanding manufacturing environments without disrupting facility operations.
