Randahl Construction carried out a complete industrial concrete floor reconstruction at Activar’s manufacturing facility, removing more than 2,000 square feet of failing 6-inch concrete and replacing it with three custom-engineered machinery foundations. The scope included a 1,260-square-foot slab poured to a 10-inch profile, a heavily reinforced 504-square-foot pad built to a 24-inch depth for heavy-duty equipment, and a 280-square-foot foundation also formed at 10 inches. All bases were designed with 2-inch recessed edge channels to accommodate rail systems and outfitted with high-density foam expansion joints that minimize vibration transfer and safeguard adjacent structures. To keep operations running smoothly, the crew installed a 7,200-square-foot isolation barrier that effectively contained dust, noise, and disruptions during construction.

Project requirements specified the use of 5,000 PSI rapid-set concrete reinforced with a dual-layer rebar grid of ½”–⅝” steel placed at 12-inch intervals, delivering significantly higher load strength than traditional wire mesh and ensuring long-term performance under heavy manufacturing equipment. Randahl Construction’s in-house crew executed every stage of the build, including demolition of the existing slab, subgrade preparation, and placement of a 12-inch Class 5 aggregate base compacted to precise engineering tolerances. The concrete was expertly power-troweled and treated with premium curing agents to maximize strength development and durability. After the slab achieved the required cure time, the team completed all post-installation work—such as precision anchor grouting for rail and track systems, debris removal, site cleanup, and coordination with third-party engineers for final verification and certification. The finished system delivers a robust, precision-built industrial concrete solution designed to support high-demand production environments while allowing facility operations to continue smoothly.
