Randahl Construction performed a comprehensive industrial concrete floor rebuild at Activar’s manufacturing plant, removing over 2,000 square feet of failing 6-inch concrete and installing three newly engineered equipment foundations. The upgrades included a 1,260-square-foot slab poured to a 10-inch thickness, a highly reinforced 504-square-foot pad constructed at 24 inches for heavy industrial machinery, and a 280-square-foot foundation also formed at a 10-inch depth. Each foundation was built with 2-inch recessed edge channels to support rail systems and fitted with high-density foam expansion joints to reduce vibration transfer and protect adjacent areas. To keep facility operations fully functional, the crew installed a 7,200-square-foot containment barrier that effectively managed dust, noise, and workflow disruption throughout construction.

Project specifications required 5,000 PSI rapid-set concrete reinforced with a dual-layer rebar grid made of ½”–⅝” steel placed at 12-inch intervals, delivering superior load capacity compared to standard wire mesh and ensuring long-term performance under heavy industrial machinery. Randahl Construction’s self-performing team handled the entire construction sequence—from demolishing the existing slab and conditioning the subgrade to installing and compacting a 12-inch Class 5 aggregate base built to precise engineering standards. The new concrete was power-trowel finished and treated with advanced curing agents to improve strength development and overall durability. After the slab achieved the proper cure, the crew completed all post-installation tasks, including precision anchor grouting for rail and track systems, thorough site cleanup and debris removal, and coordination with third-party engineers for final inspections and certifications. The finished installation provides a high-strength, precision-built industrial concrete system designed to support demanding production environments while allowing facility operations to continue without interruption.
