Randahl Construction completed an extensive industrial concrete floor renovation at Activar’s manufacturing facility, removing more than 2,000 square feet of deteriorated 6-inch slab and replacing it with three precision-engineered equipment foundations. The project included a 1,260-square-foot slab poured at a 10-inch depth, a heavily reinforced 504-square-foot pad built to 24 inches to support heavy machinery, and a 280-square-foot foundation also formed at 10 inches. Each foundation incorporated 2-inch recessed edge channels for rail integration and high-density foam expansion joints designed to limit vibration transfer and protect surrounding structures. To ensure operations could continue without interruption, the team erected a 7,200-square-foot containment barrier that controlled dust, noise, and workflow impacts throughout the duration of the project.

Project requirements called for 5,000 PSI rapid-set concrete strengthened with a dual-layer rebar grid using ½”–⅝” steel spaced at 12-inch centers—providing substantially higher load capacity than traditional wire mesh and delivering the long-term durability needed for heavy industrial machinery. Randahl Construction’s self-performing crew oversaw every phase of construction, including demolition of the existing slab, preparation of the subgrade, and placement of a 12-inch Class 5 aggregate base compacted to strict engineering specifications. The concrete was power-troweled to a smooth finish and treated with high-performance curing compounds to maximize strength gain and structural longevity. Once the slab reached its required cure time, the team completed all remaining work, including precision anchor grouting for rail and track systems, full debris removal, site restoration, and coordination with third-party engineers for certification and final inspection. The finished product is a robust, precision-engineered industrial concrete system built to support demanding production environments while keeping facility operations running without interruption.
