Randahl Construction completed a major industrial concrete floor upgrade at Activar’s manufacturing plant, removing over 2,000 square feet of deteriorating 6-inch slab and installing three newly engineered equipment foundations. The renovation included a 1,260-square-foot slab poured to a 10-inch thickness, a heavily reinforced 504-square-foot pad constructed at 24 inches for heavy-duty machinery, and a 280-square-foot foundation also formed at a 10-inch depth. Each foundation was designed with 2-inch recessed edge channels for rail-system compatibility and fitted with high-density foam expansion joints to minimize vibration transfer and protect adjacent structures. To keep facility operations running smoothly, the crew installed a 7,200-square-foot containment barrier that effectively controlled dust, noise, and workflow disruption throughout the project.

The project required 5,000 PSI rapid-set concrete reinforced with a dual-layer rebar grid using ½”–⅝” steel spaced at 12-inch intervals—offering significantly greater load capacity than standard wire mesh and ensuring long-term durability for heavy industrial machinery. Randahl Construction’s self-performing crew managed the entire build, from removing the existing slab and preparing the subgrade to installing and compacting a 12-inch Class 5 aggregate base engineered to exact specifications. The concrete was finished with power trowels and treated with advanced curing compounds to promote maximum strength development and long-term performance. After the slab reached proper curing levels, the team completed all follow-up stages, including precision anchor grouting for rail and track systems, thorough debris removal, site cleanup, and coordination with third-party engineers for final inspections and certification. The completed installation delivers a high-strength, precision-crafted industrial concrete system designed to support demanding production environments while allowing facility operations to continue seamlessly.
