Randahl Construction executed a complete industrial flooring overhaul at Activar’s manufacturing site, overseeing demolition and reconstruction of machinery-bearing concrete slabs. Our team extracted and hauled away more than 2,000 square feet of damaged 6-inch industrial concrete before constructing three specialized foundation platforms: a primary 1,260-square-foot zone at 10-inch depth, a reinforced 504-square-foot load-bearing section engineered at 24-inch thickness for heavy equipment capacity, and a supplementary 280-square-foot area built to 10-inch specifications. Each platform featured precisely molded 2-inch recessed channels along all edges to accommodate rail installation systems, with compression-resistant foam barriers positioned at junction points to prevent structural stress transfer between independent concrete segments. Recognizing the essential requirement to maintain uninterrupted production workflows during construction, our crew deployed an extensive protective enclosure system spanning 7,200 square feet to isolate work areas from ongoing manufacturing operations.

Engineering requirements called for 5,000 PSI rapid-set concrete paired with a robust, two-layer rebar grid (½”–⅝” bar spaced 12 inches apart), providing far greater strength than traditional wire mesh and ensuring the durability needed for heavy industrial equipment. Randahl Construction’s self-performing crew handled every phase of the work—removing the existing slab, excavating and preparing the subgrade, placing and compacting a 12-inch Class 5 base, and delivering a power-troweled finish treated with high-quality curing compounds. Our scope also included post-pour tasks such as grouting the track anchor systems after a three-week curing window, managing the complete haul-off of debris and excavated soils, and overseeing third-party engineering tests with full compliance reporting. This Activar installation highlights Randahl Construction’s ability to execute complex industrial concrete projects that meet strict performance standards while keeping facility operations running smoothly.
