Poured Concrete Walls Don’t Have Joints Like Cinder Blocks
The only joint you will find with a poured concrete wall is the cove joint. The joint cove is where the floor meets the wall, and the wall sits on top of the footing. Because of this, a poured wall is less prone to premature leaking or cracks.
Poured Concrete Walls Are Stronger Than Cinder Block Walls
Poured concrete walls have superior resistance to underground lateral pressure from soil and water. It is the reason why engineers and architects favor them in increasing numbers. This gives your structure as much water resistance as possible. Even with climate changes such as we experience in Minnesota, dense poured concrete walls will not give in as quickly to buckling or bowing like cinder blocks do.
Other Benefits to Poured Concrete Walls
- Poured concrete walls are fire resistant. In fact, they have the highest fire safety rating when compared to cinder blocks.
- Poured walls can be used on any foundation. They aren’t restricted to the same limitations as cinder blocks and can be poured into any shape and size.
- We can pour walls much faster than a block wall can be built.
We Do Special Inspection Testing for All Concrete Foundations
When designing and preparing concrete foundations for our clients, we always start by having the soil tested and analyzed by a highly qualified third-party partner.
Our geotechnical engineering team can understand the soil and site characteristics using previous soil samples or core drilling to conduct new tests. This ensures the long-term success of your concrete project and prevents costly failure of your foundation in the future.
Among our tests are:
- Soil Stability Test
- Rebar Inspections
- Concrete Cylinder Strength Tests
