Randahl Construction executed a complete industrial flooring overhaul at Activar’s production facility, managing the teardown and rebuild of the concrete foundations that support essential manufacturing equipment. Our team removed and hauled away more than 2,000 square feet of failing 6-inch concrete before constructing three new engineered slab foundations: a 1,260-square-foot pad poured to a 10-inch depth, a heavily reinforced 504-square-foot section built at 24 inches to handle high-load machinery, and a 280-square-foot pad also installed at 10 inches. Each slab was designed with 2-inch recessed edge channels for the rail system and fitted with high-density foam isolation joints to prevent stress transfer between independent slab sections. To maintain seamless production during the project, we also installed a 7,200-square-foot containment enclosure that separated the construction zone from the active manufacturing floor, significantly reducing dust and disruption.

Project requirements called for 5,000 PSI rapid-set concrete reinforced with a two-tier rebar grid (½”–⅝” bars set 12 inches apart), a far stronger alternative to standard wire mesh and essential for supporting heavy industrial loads. Randahl Construction’s self-performing team handled the entire construction sequence—including demolition of the existing slab, subgrade excavation, and installation of a 12-inch Class 5 aggregate base compacted to engineering specifications. The new slab received a power-troweled finish and was sealed with high-performance curing compounds to ensure long-term structural integrity. Our responsibilities also included grouting the track anchor systems after a designated three-week curing period, managing complete debris and soil removal, and coordinating independent engineering tests with full compliance documentation. This project highlights Randahl Construction’s capability to deliver high-precision industrial concrete installations that meet strict engineering criteria while allowing plant operations to continue without interruption.
