Randahl Construction orchestrated a comprehensive floor slab replacement at Activar’s facility, overseeing the removal and reconstruction of industrial concrete platforms designed for equipment anchoring. Our team demolished and hauled away more than 2,000 square feet of compromised 6-inch concrete before casting three precision-engineered slabs: a primary platform of 1,260 square feet poured 10 inches deep, a reinforced foundation measuring 504 square feet with 24-inch thickness for maximum load capacity, and a tertiary 280-square-foot section at 10-inch depth. Each slab featured machined 2-inch recesses along all borders to receive rail system components, with compressible foam expansion material installed at every joint interface to prevent stress migration between adjacent pours. Understanding the importance of maintaining production schedules during renovations, we constructed a full-scale dust mitigation enclosure spanning 7,200 square feet to isolate construction activities from operational areas.

The project design required high-strength 5,000 PSI fast-curing concrete paired with a two-tier steel reinforcement network (½” to ⅝” diameter rebar positioned at 12-inch spacing) in place of traditional welded wire mesh, ensuring the robust load capacity necessary for supporting industrial equipment. Our in-house construction team controlled every aspect of execution—from breaking out existing concrete and earth removal to laying down 12 inches of meticulously compacted Class 5 base material, followed by machine-troweled surfaces protected with industrial curing sealants. The project’s full scope reached beyond slab installation to encompass anchor grouting for rail systems completed three weeks post-pour to accommodate proper curing cycles, complete disposal of all removed soil and concrete debris, and management of third-party structural verification with official inspection documentation. This Activar engagement demonstrates our capability to execute complex industrial concrete projects that satisfy rigorous engineering standards while preserving normal production flow in operational facilities.
