Randahl Construction completed a full industrial concrete floor replacement at Activar’s manufacturing facility, removing over 2,000 square feet of deteriorated 6-inch slab and constructing three specially engineered equipment foundations in its place. The project featured a 1,260-square-foot slab poured to a 10-inch depth, a heavily reinforced 504-square-foot pad built to 24 inches for high-capacity machinery, and a 280-square-foot foundation also formed at 10 inches. Each foundation incorporated 2-inch recessed edge channels for integrated rail systems and high-density foam expansion joints designed to limit vibration transfer and protect neighboring structures. To ensure uninterrupted plant operations, the team also erected a 7,200-square-foot containment barrier that controlled dust, sound, and workflow disruptions throughout the project.
The project called for 5,000 PSI rapid-set concrete paired with a dual-layer rebar system using ½”–⅝” steel spaced at 12-inch centers, providing far greater load capacity than standard wire mesh and ensuring long-term reliability for heavy production machinery. Randahl Construction’s self-performing crew managed the full construction process—from removing the existing concrete and preparing the subgrade to installing and compacting a 12-inch Class 5 aggregate base built to strict engineering specifications. The newly placed concrete was power-trowel finished and treated with high-performance curing compounds to enhance strength gain and durability. Once the slab reached its required cure time, the team completed all follow-up work, including precision anchor grouting for rail and track systems, site cleanup, debris removal, and coordination of third-party engineering inspections and certifications. The result is a durable, precision-engineered industrial concrete installation capable of supporting demanding manufacturing operations while maintaining uninterrupted facility activity.
