Randahl Construction completed a complex industrial concrete reconstruction project at Activar’s manufacturing facility, replacing aging floor sections with engineered concrete foundations designed to support heavy production equipment and ongoing operational demands. The scope included demolition and removal of more than 2,000 square feet of deteriorated concrete before constructing multiple reinforced slab sections of varying depths, including a heavy-duty foundation area designed to accommodate significant equipment loads. Each concrete placement was carefully formed with recessed perimeter channels to integrate track-mounted systems, while isolation materials were installed between slab sections to reduce vibration transfer and improve long-term performance. To allow manufacturing activities to continue safely throughout construction, our team also designed and installed a 7,200-square-foot containment system that separated active production areas from demolition and concrete work, helping minimize disruption while maintaining a safe and controlled work environment.

To meet the project’s demanding structural requirements, the new concrete foundations were constructed using high-strength 5,000 PSI concrete and a heavily reinforced rebar system consisting of two layers of steel reinforcement spaced at 12-inch intervals. Randahl Construction self-performed every phase of the work, including demolition, excavation, aggregate base preparation, concrete placement, finishing, and curing, ensuring strict quality control throughout the process. The scope also included installation and later grouting of track anchoring systems following the required curing period, coordination of third-party testing and inspection services, and complete removal of demolition debris and excavated materials from the site. This project highlights Randahl Construction’s expertise in executing complex industrial concrete installations that require precise engineering, rigorous quality standards, and careful planning to support ongoing manufacturing operations with minimal disruption.
